Couples have been left scrambling after the luxury Lake Tahoe hotel they booked for their weddings unexpectedly canceled their dates at the last minute.
The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa, and Casino in Incline Village, California, say it was forced to cancel all their lakeside events when renovations to the property were moved up.
One of the couple's affected were told the order to cancel weddings was 'handed down to us from the top'.
The hotel is owned by Donald Trump's friend billionaire Larry Ellison who purchased the property for a whopping $345million.
The hotel announced on Instagram that the first phase of renovations would begin in March and was scheduled to continue until May 2027.
During this period, the hotel's access to Lake Tahoe, its private beach, pier, and lakeside restaurants would be temporarily shut down.
Couples who had already scheduled and signed contracts to have their ceremonies on the lake were told that their weddings were canceled by the venue.
Among these couples were Tanaya Deb and Nishal Gupta, who were told in December that they'd have to find another venue for their May wedding.

'We are in the heat of it, like super struggling to get our wedding going,' Tanaya told local San Francisco outlet, SF Gate.
The couple was already planning a 300-person wedding and invited family members from all over the world.
They added that they were frequently communicating with the team at the Hyatt, and no one had indicated there were any plans for renovations.
Gupta said that the representative who gave them the grim news indicated that the decision was 'handed down to us from the top'.
Another impacted couple shared their story on a Reddit thread, writing that they received a similar call about nine months before their wedding date.
'Before booking, we learned this happened for all the 2024 weddings as well so we were very explicit in confirming there would be no construction in 2025. The event staff assured us it would not be a problem,' the Redditor shared.
'We have vendors and guests flying in from all over the world and now we're scrambling to find a new venue.'
Another commenter shared that they also received the news that their wedding was canceled, writing: 'I'm absolutely devastated and sobbed through the entire phone call. I'm sure you're equally hurting, I'm so sorry we have to go through this. It absolutely sucks.'
A third shared: 'My daughter is in the same boat. Her May 2025 wedding was canceled. She is heartbroken. We are meeting with them on Sunday to see what our options are.
'She has put so much planning into this wedding to have the rug pulled out from under her is just so heartless!'
