Rarely has a member of the Royal Family been so publicly excoriated as Prince Harry was three weeks ago, when he was accused of playing ‘the victim card' by Sophie Chandauka.

The barb from Dr Chandauka, who now chairs Sentebale, the charity Harry co-founded in 2006, was just one of many in a storm of accusation and counter-accusation, during which Harry and his co-founder, Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, stepped down as Sentebale's patrons.

The pair issued a statement in support of its trustees who had resigned after trying but failing to remove Dr Chandauka, with whom their relationship had deteriorated ‘beyond repair'.

Far from wilting, Dr Chandauka appeared on TV and accused Harry of ‘harassment and bullying at scale' for releasing his statement ‘without informing me or my country directors or my executive director'. She continued: ‘Can you imagine what that attack has done for me and the 540 individuals in the Sentebale organisations and their family?'

As if to confirm her fears, I can disclose that one of Sentebale's new trustees - appointed on March 25 - has now also resigned.

The Charity Commission, which is conducting an investigation into Sentebale, continues to list Margaret Ikpoh as a trustee, as does Sentebale's own website, saying she is ‘passionate about advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion' and is ‘a dynamic educator and speaker'.

But, in a statement, Sentebale tells me that Dr Ikpoh has indeed called it a day.

Noting that it is ‘a particularly difficult time to have joined the organisation', it says that Dr Ikpoh has ‘chosen to step down out of respect for her family and other professional commitments', which Sentebale says it ‘fully understands, respects and supports', adding: ‘We deeply appreciate her interest in Sentebale over a long period of time and look forward to staying in touch'.

Too late for Meghan to intercede as conciliator, I suppose?

It's Strictly burgers for Nadiya!
Even the most disciplined dancers of Strictly Come Dancing can't resist an occasional cheat meal.

Nadiya Bychkova enjoyed tucking into a cheeseburger at the flagship launch of New York burger joint Black Tap in London's Soho, which opens today.

The ballroom star, 35, tells me: ‘The burger was delicious. I am looking forward to coming back and trying everything else.'

Ms Bychkova has been confirmed to return to the hit BBC show in the autumn.

‘I love dancing and teaching, and that's what the show is all about so I can't wait for another season of magical moments and memories,' she says.

The single Ukrainian dancer last year ended her relationship with fellow Strictly pro Kai Widdrington. He has since found love again with Chloe Wells, an executive assistant.

Princess Diana's wedding dress co-designer Elizabeth Emanuel couldn't claim ownership of the famous design until she settled a bitter High Court case with ex-husband David Emanuel last year.

Having won the intellectual property rights of the Emanuel partnership, I hear she is set to front a new Channel 5 documentary on the behind-the-scenes story of Diana's gown. The spectacular £9,000 wedding dress from 1981 featured a 25ft train and 10,000 pearls.

‘It's Elizabeth's narrative,' a TV insider tells me of the production. ‘It will coincide with the 45th anniversary of Diana and Charles getting married.

‘It's a celebration of a great time and the dress is a lovely way to do it.'

It's fromage et vin for Martin's girl
Sherlock actor Martin Freeman has made a rather kinky admission about his much younger French actress girlfriend, Rachel Benaissa.

‘She's a massive cheese and wine whore,' Freeman, 53, says of Benaissa 30, whom he has been dating for five years.

He explains: ‘She says that about herself, "I'm a cheese and wine whore."' Chatting on the Table Manners podcast, he adds: ‘It's not all she is, but we like cooking.'

It is Freeman's first serious relationship since he split up with his former partner Amanda Abbington in 2016.

Ms Abbington is the mother of his two children and also played his wife in the BBC series Sherlock.

Ed heads down a country road
Ed Sheeran found fame making pop ballads but he's keen to dabble in a new genre.

‘I've made country songs in the past, but they haven't come out,' he reveals, adding: ‘I need to [do] them properly.'

Sheeran, 34, previously lived in Nashville, Tennessee, but he plans to put his own spin on the country sound.

He says: ‘My heritage is Anglo-Irish, and I grew up with "trad music" in my household so I would have to bring trad music into country.'

Bust! Aspinall's casinos enter administration
Is John Aspinall spinning in his grave? The casino king, who died in 2000, lies in the lime avenue at Howletts - one of two trophy houses he acquired in Kent - between daughter Mameena and one of his favourite gorillas.

But I can disclose that, 63 years after founding the Clermont Club - where, said Aspinall, ‘gentlemen could ruin themselves as elegantly and suicidally as did their ancestors 300 years ago' - his old empire has gone bust. Aspers Group - named for Aspinall, known as ‘Aspers' - has gone into administration.

The business was co-founded by Aspinall's son, Damian, after he sold his father's last casino in 2009. ‘It was supposed to be the evolution of his father's legacy,' an insider tells me. ‘The scale of the failure is extraordinary.' Aspinall senior based his Clermont Club in Mayfair but Damian established himself in Milton Keynes and Stratford, east London, where he opened the largest casino in the country, now operating under new management.

The other venue is now closed - two years after Damian, 64, stepped down from the board.
